Imagination and visioning workshops
What would it feel like to live in a future where our societies and economies are designed the way nature designs?
I create experiences that take a group into that future and ask them to imagine it from the inside: a world organised around the principles where living systems thrive, such as reciprocity, biodiversity and resilience. Instead of explaining these ideas, we step into them and shape them together. The experiences are purposefully playful. We’re living through times that demand new ways of seeing, yet creativity is treated as a luxury after the serious work is done. To me, that’s backwards. Play is the part of us that lets us open up to new ideas and experiment with them. So the workshops are a living sample of the future we’re imagining: colourful, energising and hopeful.
In previous workshops, we have swallowed time travel sweets, put on time travel sunglasses and marched through a tunnel of ribbons into the future. We have tasted snacks that told stories about nature, crafted artefacts of the change that had “happened”, and celebrated every idea that was conjured up. The whimsical playfulness is the magic that makes these workshops impactful.
Every workshop experience is designed from scratch based on the needs and context of the people participating. It can run from one hour to four, with a focus as specific as a single project or as broad as a whole sector. Workshops can be part of a conference, a stakeholder gathering or any place where moving toward different futures is needed. If you’re curious what one could look like for your group, get in touch at hello@ashleyscarborough.com and we’ll explore it together.
