FOOD WASTE

A systemic diagnosis to understand the dynamics of food waste happening on the Farm, and at home, using multiple frameworks to increase the depth of knowledge in the problem area

A three month process of digging deep into the problem of food waste. In collaboration with Oddbox and a team of system thinkers, we used a selection of system thinking frameworks to map the dynamics of the food system. Through desk research of scientific papers, expert knowledge and farm visits we asked questions to gather data, unpicking, reframing, asking questions and asking more questions, to arrive at a clearer understanding of the messy complexity of why food waste happens both on the farm and at home.

Many of the insights uncovered here are being addressed in the How We Eat project that engages food system change makers to shift towards regenerative mindsets.
